We agree with Kurt, products that cost less usually give you less in return. The most expensive lubricant is the one that doesn’t do the job, ruins tools, requires additional maintenance, plugs spray nozzles, creates additional work, etc.

Case In Point:

VS-HSS is $2 per gallon more expensive than the straight oil, but it is 66% less expensive when mixed 3:1 with water. In this case the cost of the stamping fluid is unimportant to the customer. The real cost saving to the customer will be in their 5 stage cleaning line. The straight oil is much more difficult and costly to clean. The straight oil requires high concentration of cleaner and leave high levels of oil in the baths requiring frequent changing. The Metal Mates product is much easier and less expensive to clean. So from the customers prospective the cost of the stamping fluid is unimportant compared to their cost of cleaning.

Most customers spend 3 to 5 time as much money on the maintenance and repair of their dies as on stamping fluid. So if we can significantly improve die life the cost of our fluids becomes less significant.
